How can I get advice and in-the-woods assistance in handling my own woodland right?

Write your State forester at the State capital or your extension forester at the State agricultural college; or get in touch with your county agent, soil conservation district supervisor, or the local Forest Service representative. Any one of them will put you in touch with the nearest farm forester, who will work with you.
